It’ll be long wait for part 2.
I feel that Digibro’s comment on “Everyone being on their own island” isn’t just an anime thing and feels like it’s a problem across many mediums in general. The only difference is that most other mediums cover the required topics to get audience up to speed on their own eventually.

Like, they’re the type of otaku that Miyazaki hates the most? The type who dive deeper and deeper onto the anime world and don’t have interest in the world they’re inspired upon?

Not the episode I wanted, but at least I don’t have to look at that hairy face here…
Last week I asked, “When western bloggers and vloggers will be quoted with the same level of respect and authority that we reserve for otakus with a degree from some whatever japanese university? Both study, think, and debate equally hard and deep.”.
For more that western otakos like to talk among themselves about anime they like, they seem to have a considerable aversion for two things: animes that spark discussion, ironically, and known faces within the fandom “banning” their understanding of particular animes.
Or is just the state of things in hueland.
